Selection Criteria for Outstanding International Students of the School of International Education

Article 1 These Criteria are formulated to guarantee the selection of outstanding international students of the School of International Education, establish an effective mechanism for selecting outstanding international students, further encourage them to study, practice, and innovate diligently and assiduously, and strive to become knowledgeable and friendly students that love China.
Article 2 The College carries out the selection of outstanding international students on a yearly basis. Returning international students of the College are eligible for the selection. The quota of outstanding international students shall be subject to the requirements of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
Article 3 Basic conditions for selecting outstanding international students:
1. Progressive political thinking, good moral character, good cooperation, and innovative spirit;
2. Consciously complying with the code of conduct and the rules and regulations of the College as a student,
3. Physically and mentally healthy and positive;
4. Studying diligently with excellent grades;
5. Ranked in the top 20% of the class for academic performance.
Article 4 In addition to the basic conditions set out in Article III, an outstanding student shall also satisfy one of the following conditions:
1. Received at least one first-class scholarship during his/her time at the College;
2． Received at least two second-class scholarships during his/her time at the College;
3. Received at least one School-level title of Outstanding International Student or Outstanding Student Leader;
4. Won a college-level first prize or province-level third prize in discipline competitions, skill competitions, science and technology production contests, innovative practice, and thesis evaluation;
5. Won a college-level first prize or province-level third prize in cultural, artistic, and sports competitions;
6. Major achievements in other fields.
Article 5 Students will not be eligible for the Selection in case of any of the following conditions during his/her time at the College:
1．Those who violate the college rules and regulations, or received disciplinary penalties;
2．Those who do not keep their credit when applying for or repaying student loans or during employment;
3. Those who intentionally default on tuition.
Article 6 Selection Procedure and Methods
1．The Outstanding International Students shall be selected, reviewed, announced and approved by the School of International Education, and the results shall be filed to the Office of “Study in Jiangsu” of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
2． The selection of Outstanding International Students shall be divided into two stages, i.e. the preliminary selection stage and the voting stage. The preliminary selection stage is held at the end of the second semester of the first academic year. The voting stage will begin upon the issuance of the selection document by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (usually in mid-November), and the entire College will vote with reference to the selection criteria;
3． The selection of Outstanding International Students shall comply with the principle of “open, fair, impartial”. Once confirmed, the list of Outstanding Students shall be announced to the public within the School of International Education for at least 5 working days. The School of International Education shall file the selection results to the Office of “Study in Jiangsu” as required by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
Article 7 Reward of Outstanding International Students
The Outstanding International Students selected by the School of International Education will receive uniform rewards from the funds allocated by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.
Article 8 These Criteria shall be implemented since the 2019-2020 academic year. The School of International Education reserves the right to interpret these Criteria.
